Concert to Benefit Our Homeless Veterans
October 30th 8:00PM
The Paramount in Huntington
General Needs was thrilled to be apart of this benefit concert sponsored by TD Bank and The Paramount! To have the great and talented band Big Shot featuring one of Long Island’s most celebrated performers Mike DelGuidice was the icing on the cake!
A great event at a fantastic venue with one of the best bands on Long Island!
On Friday October 30th, TD Bank President, Chris Giamo presented General Needs President, Lonnie Sherman a check for $10,000 as part of the proceeds from the “Boots Across Long Island” benefit performance by Mike DelGiudice and Big Shot, a Billy Joel tribute band at the Paramount in Huntington. “I’m Stunned”, said Lonnie Sherman, President of General Needs. “Nothing but great things have happened to us since our introduction to TD Bank from the Rotary Clubs of Long Island”. “Awareness of the work we do here on Long Island for our homeless Veterans is finally getting the focus and resources it desperately needs”.
The “Boots Across Long Island” event has given General Needs the ability to distribute 300 pairs of winter boots to needy Homeless Veterans from Queens to Riverhead this Veterans Day November 11th.
And…“Mike Delguidice of Big Shot has volunteered to entertain veterans during a future distribution”, Said Mr. Sherman.
It was a packed house at the Paramount, during the show two dozen veterans joined Big Shot on stage during the Billy Joel classic “As we all go down together”. The big hit of the evening was “Just the Way You Are” performed by the 94 year old World War 2 veteran, and former instructor to Big Shot’s Sax Player, John Scarpulla.
